Rich Peppiatt is a writer & director working across film, TV and commercials.

His debut narrative feature, Kneecap, had its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. It was the first ever Irish language movie to play at the festival, going on to win the NEXT Audience Award. 

After playing at festivals including SXSW, Tribeca and Karlovy Vary, the film came home to Ireland at the Galway Fleadh, taking home a historic haul of honours in Best Irish Film, Best Irish Language Film and the Audience Award. 

Kneecap is on release worldwide and has been selected as Ireland’s entry for the 2025 Academy Awards. 

Rich’s debut feature documentary, One Rogue Reporter, was nominated for Best Independent Feature at the 2014 National Film Awards and released worldwide by Netflix.

He went on to write over 25 hours of prime time television, which have won awards including a Scottish RTS & BAFTA.

In 2018 he released two short films, Backseat Driver & Grounded. They screened at dozens of international festivals, with Grounded long-listed for the 2020 Academy Awards.

Rich has recently co-founded Coup D’Etat Films, based in Belfast, with Kneecap producer Trevor Birney. 

He continues to work in the commercial space through his production company Naughty Step

He is represented in the UK for film and television by MMB Creative. In the US he is represented by WME & managed by Anonymous Content.
